Great beer brings people together and great partnerships make it possible. From the malt we source in Charlottesville to the yeast labs in Richmond and Sterling, every beer we brew connects back to Virginia's craft community.

These are the small businesses, makers, and organizations that make what we do possible.

SMALL BATCH BREWING IS PROUD TO SUPPORT THESE VIRGINIA BUSINESSES.

  • Murphy & Rude Malting

Virginia's only craft malthouse and our first official partner. We drove to their facility in Charlottesville to pick up our first order, over 250 lbs of fresh Virginia-grown malt. Founded by Jeff Bloem in 2017, Murphy & Rude specializes in hand-crafted specialty malts made from grain grown in and around Virginia. They work directly with small local farms to source the highest quality grain, then use traditional malting methods combined with creative innovation to produce malt with real personality. From their Virginia Pils to specialty roasted malts, Murphy & Rude delivers fresher, more flavorful ingredients that make a difference you can taste.

  • Jasper Yeast

High-quality liquid yeast made for craft brewers, by craft brewers. Founded by Travis Tedrow and Dr. Jasper Akerboom, Jasper Yeast combines deep brewing experience with serious microbiology expertise. Travis brewed professionally for 12 years before starting the lab, and Jasper holds a PhD in microbiology and food technology from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Based in Virginia's Loudoun County, they provide fresh, healthy yeast strains to breweries across the Mid-Atlantic. Their pitches are substantial (think 31-gallon size) and deliver reliable fermentation with exceptional customer service. When you need yeast that performs, Jasper Yeast delivers.

  • RVA Yeast Labs

The freshest yeast, right here in Richmond. RVA Yeast Labs provides made-to-order yeast to local breweries, wineries, and homebrewers throughout Virginia and beyond. Every homebrew pitch contains more than 200 billion cells and is propagated fresh when you order it. Which means you get healthy, viable yeast that produces reliable fermentation every time. Supporting RVA Yeast Labs means supporting another Richmond small business that's helping craft brewers make great beer.

  • Original Gravity / Final Gravity Brewing

A neighborhood brewery and homebrew supply shop that started it all. Original Gravity opened in 2011 as a homebrew supply store, giving local brewers access to quality ingredients and knowledgeable advice. The brewery side, Final Gravity, launched later and has become known for award-winning beers, especially hop-forward IPAs that have earned recognition in competitions across Virginia. They're the kind of place where you can grab a beer, talk brewing, and pick up supplies all in one spot.

  • LOGIC Inc.

Eco-friendly cleaning solutions for brewing equipment. Since 1993, LOGIC Inc has produced non-toxic, biodegradable cleansers specifically designed for the beverage industry. Their products help homebrewers and commercial operations keep equipment clean and sanitized without harsh chemicals. Founded by Rick Theiner when he couldn't find a cleanser he was satisfied with, LOGIC's products quickly became the standard for brewers who want effective cleaning that's safer for people and the environment. We use their cleansers to maintain our equipment and ensure every batch starts clean.

  • Crescent Simples

Fresh fruit-infused simple syrups made right here in Richmond. Founded by husband-and-wife team Megan Thomas and Bill Miller, both former bartenders in New Orleans. Crescent Simples creates cocktail syrups from high-quality, fresh ingredients. From their Lime Jalapeño to Peach Hibiscus made with Virginia-grown peaches, every syrup is crafted to elevate drinks with real flavor. While they're known in the cocktail world, we appreciate their commitment to local ingredients and supporting the Virginia beverage community. Great drinks start with great ingredients, whether it's beer or cocktails.

  • Virago Spirits

Award-winning craft spirits from fellow Richmond makers. Founded by three brothers (Barry, Brad, and Barton Haneberg), Virago Spirits specializes in classically inspired, creatively interpreted rums, gins, brandies, and herbal liqueurs. Their flagship Four-Port Rum, a blend of pot- and column-distilled rums from four Caribbean ports, has won Best in Class and Best in Category twice from the American Distilling Institute. They distill everything on a vintage, direct-fire Charentais-style alembic still from France, blending Old World techniques with New World innovation. Virago embodies what the Richmond craft beverage scene is all about: quality, character, and community.
